Critical Illness

Critical Illness Reality Check [1]

1 in 3 Canadians will develop cancer in their lifetime.

1 in 4 Canadians will contract some form of heart disease

Someone in Canada has a stroke every 10 minutes.

You never think it will happen to you.

They’re just numbers… until the day someone you know is diagnosed, someone who didn’t even see it coming. Then it becomes very real.

When it comes to critical illness, no one is immune.

With increased life expectancy and medical advances, the risk of living with a serious illness is significant, and the costs can be staggering. Government health care programs provide only the basics. Critical illness insurance provides a lump-sum payout following the diagnosis of a covered condition, and a survival period of usually 30 days, that you can use in any way you wish so you can focus on recovery. Depending on your needs, this benefit could:

  • keep you and your family in your home,
  • keep your business viable,
  • cover the cost of extended health care requirements,
  • allow you to undertake out-of-country or alternative therapies,
  • allow you to take a leave from work to care for a sick child.

You can even customize your plan so that if it never pays out, you get your premiums back.

Coverage options

  • available for children and adults
  • short term, long term or coverage for life
  • coverage amounts from $25,000 to $2,500,000
  • return of premium on expiry or death
  • standalone policy or bundled with life insurance
